(1) The Basics : Weave, Thread Count & Material

What is Thread Count (TC)?

Thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric.

Here's an easy way to picture it: imagine a small square cut from your bedsheet, one inch wide and one inch tall. Now count every thread that runs left to right, and every thread that runs top to bottom, inside that square. Add the two together — that total is the thread count.

For example: if a fabric has 150 threads running one way and 150 threads running the other way in that one-inch square, the thread count is 300 TC.

What material is used in our Sateen weave?

Our Sateen bedsheets are made from 100% pure cotton.

People often confuse Sateen with Satin, but they are not the same. Satin is made from synthetic fibres or silk — it has a high shine and a slippery feel, and it traps heat, so it can feel warm to sleep in.

Sateen is made from cotton. It has a soft, gentle shine, and because it's cotton, it lets your skin breathe — so it stays comfortable through the night.

What is the difference between Sateen weave and Percale weave?

Percale is a simple, tight weave — the threads cross over and under each other equally, like a checkerboard pattern. This makes the fabric feel crisp, cool, and light, similar to a freshly ironed shirt.

Sateen has more threads sitting on top of the fabric, instead of going over and under equally. This gives it a smooth, soft feel with a slight shine.

Simple way to choose: if you like a cool, crisp feel, go with Percale. If you like something smooth and luxurious, go with Sateen.

What material is used in our Percale weave?

Our Percale bedsheets are made using premium 100% cotton yarns.

The Percale weave gives the fabric a crisp, light, and breathable feel — like a cool, fresh shirt. And because it's 100% cotton, it stays comfortable and lasts a long time with everyday use.

What is the OEKO-TEX certification shown on all our products?

OEKO-TEX is a certification recognised around the world. It means every thread, dye, and material in our products has been tested and proven to be free from harmful chemicals — so everything that touches your skin is safe.

We hold two OEKO-TEX certifications: STANDARD 100, which certifies our products are free from harmful substances, and MADE IN GREEN, which goes a step further — it also checks that our products are made in environmentally friendly factories under fair, safe working conditions. MADE IN GREEN is the highest certification level within OEKO-TEX, and one of the most respected sustainability labels in the world.

(2) The Products : Bedsheets, Bundles & Patterns

What is the difference between a bedsheet and a FITTED bedsheet?

A regular bedsheet (also called a flat sheet) is one flat piece of fabric. You spread it over the mattress, then fold and tuck the edges underneath to hold it in place — like wrapping a gift.

A fitted bedsheet has elastic sewn into the edges and corners, so it stretches and wraps around the mattress like a cover — the way a fitted t-shirt hugs your body. It stays in place better and gives the bed a neat, wrinkle-free look.

What is a duvet cover?

A duvet cover works like a pillowcase, but for your duvet or comforter instead of your pillow — it simply slips over and protects it.

It keeps your duvet clean, and since it's easy to remove and wash, you don't need to wash the whole duvet every time. It also means you can change the look of your bed just by changing the cover, without buying a new quilt or comforter.

What is a bedding bundle?

A bedding bundle brings together everything you need for your bed in one set, so you don't have to buy each piece separately.

Each bundle includes 1 Duvet Cover, 1 Flat or Fitted Sheet, and matching Pillow Covers — all designed to go together, so your bed looks neat and put-together with no guesswork.

Buying a Blue Dahlia bundle is also better value — you get the full set for less than buying each piece on its own.

What is a comfort bundle?

A comfort bundle brings together everything your bed needs for a cozy night's sleep — all in one package, so you don't have to shop for each piece separately.

Each bundle includes 1 Flat Sheet, 2 Pillowcases, 2 Pillows, and 1 Quilt — all matched together, so your bed is soft, inviting, and ready to use the moment it arrives.

Buying a Blue Dahlia comfort bundle is also better value — you get everything together for less than buying each piece on its own.

What are cuddle pillows?

Cuddle pillows are long pillows, about the length of your body, made to hug while you sleep.

They support your head, neck, and knees all at the same time, which helps you sleep in a comfortable position — this makes them especially popular with people who sleep on their side.

They're also often recommended during pregnancy, since they give extra comfort and support better sleeping posture.

What are Jacquard pattern bedsheets?

Jacquard bedsheets have their pattern woven directly into the fabric — it's not printed on top or stitched on later. The design is built into the threads themselves as the fabric is being made.

This gives the fabric a rich texture and a slightly raised pattern that you can both see and feel — you can literally run your fingers over it and feel the design, not just see it.

Jacquard patterns are rare to find in the Indian market, and they add a distinct, elegant character to your bedroom.

What are our Stripes and Swiss Dot pattern bedsheets?

Our Stripes and Swiss Dot patterns are also woven directly into the fabric while it's being made, not printed on top. This gives them a subtle texture and a crisp design that you can both see and feel.

These are classic patterns that are rare to find in the Indian market, and they add a distinct character to your bedroom.

(3) The Fit : Sizes & Measurements

What is the difference between King, Queen, and Single sizes in bedsheets?

A Single bedsheet measures 90" x 60", made to fit a standard Single mattress, with enough extra fabric to tuck in neatly on the sides.

A Queen bedsheet measures 90" x 100". It's made to fit a standard Queen mattress (60" x 78"), with enough extra fabric to drape comfortably over the sides.

A King bedsheet measures 108" x 108". It's made to fit a standard King mattress (72" x 78"), giving you wider, more generous coverage.

Not sure which one fits your bed? Simply measure your mattress first, then pick the bedsheet size closest to that measurement.

What is "Double" size in comforters/quilts and duvets?

"Double" size is made to comfortably cover a Double, Queen, or King bed. It's large enough for two people, with extra fabric hanging over both sides.

Our Duvet Covers and Quilts/AC Comforters in Double size both measure 90" x 100".

What is the difference between King and Queen sizes in fitted bedsheets?

A Queen Fitted Sheet measures 60" x 80", with a 12" "drop". It's made to fit snugly over a standard Queen mattress (60" x 78").

A King Fitted Sheet measures 72" x 78", also with a 12" drop, made to wrap perfectly around a standard King mattress (72" x 78").

What is a "drop"? It's simply how far the sheet goes down the side of your mattress before tucking underneath — like the depth of a pocket. A 12" drop fits mattresses up to 10" thick, and makes sure the sheet tucks in firmly on all sides.

Choosing the correct size helps your fitted sheet stay snug and secure, without slipping off the corners.

What sizes are available in Blue Dahlia products?

Blue Dahlia products come in multiple sizes, so you can pick what fits your bed: Bedsheets in King and Single; Fitted Bedsheets in King and Queen; Duvet Covers and Comforters in Double; Pillow Covers in Standard size.

Each product page also lists the exact sizing for that specific item, so you can double-check before you buy.

Need a custom size? Just contact us and we'll be happy to help.

What is the size of our pillows and covers?

Both our Filled Pillows and Pillow Covers measure 18" x 28". Sincethey'remade to the exact same size, you can just slip the cover onto the pillow — it fits snugly, with no adjusting needed.

How do I know if the product will fit my bed?

The easiest way is to measure your mattress before you order — take the length and the width.

If you're buying a fitted sheet, also measure the depth of your mattress, from the top surface to the bottom. This is called the "drop", and it helps make sure the sheet fits snugly.

Once you have these measurements, compare them to the size guide on the product page and pick the closest match.

(4) The Extras : Care, Tips & More

How many pillow covers does each article have?

It depends on the collection and size you choose.

200TC, 300TC, and 400TC collections (Printed, Jacquard, Swiss Dot, Stripes, and Solid): 2 pillow covers with King and Queen sets, 1 pillow cover with Single sets.

500TC and 1000TC collections: 4 pillow covers with King-size sets.

Duvet Covers do not come with pillow covers. If you need more, pillow covers are also sold separately, so you can buy extra whenever you need.

How do I select the right bedsheet for my home?

Picking the right bedsheet comes down to four things: weave, thread count, material, and fit.

Weave: both Sateen and Percale are great choices. Sateen feels smooth, silky, and luxurious. Percale feels crisp, cool, and breathable. Pick whichever feel you prefer.

Thread count (TC): a good thread count keeps your sheet soft and durable, so it holds up well wash after wash.

Material: always choose 100% cotton if you can — it's gentle on the skin and lasts longer. Ours is 100% cotton.

Fit: check that the sheet suits your mattress depth, and keep the season you're shopping for in mind.

One more thing worth checking: certifications. Since you spend around 8 hours a day on your bed, it's worth knowing what you're sleeping on. Ours carry the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and Made in Green certifications — among the highest safety standards in the world.

What are the washcare instructions for Blue Dahlia products?

A little care keeps your Blue Dahlia products looking and feeling their best for longer.

General tips: wash your bedding separately from clothes, using a mild detergent and avoiding harsh chemicals or bleach. Wash similar colours and fabric types together, and don't soak them or use fabric softener. Dry away from direct sunlight, to protect the colour and texture.

For Bedsheets, Fitted Sheets, Duvet Covers, and Pillow Covers: turn them inside out and machine wash in cold water. Tumble dry on low heat, and iron on a warm setting if needed, to keep them crisp and fresh.

For Quilts, Comforters, and Pillows: a gentle machine wash or hand wash works best. Avoid wringing them out — let them air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight, to keep them fluffy and in shape.

What are gift cards?

Our physical gift cards come in three values — ₹2,000, ₹5,000, and ₹10,000 — making them an easy gift for any occasion.

They can be used on our online store, and can even be passed on to someone else if you'd like to regift them. This way, the person receiving it gets to choose exactly what they want.
